Environmental initiatives beyond our obligations

Aena carries out environmental initiatives that go beyond its obligations.

As a result of the agreements with the third sector entities thoughout 2019, Aena’s employees have had the opportunity to collaborate in environmental activities relating to the conservation and preservation of marine fauna, educating and raising awareness among the public.

Also, some airports have actively participated in spreading environmental best practices. It is worth highlighting the activities organised at the airport of Lanzarote on the occasion of the “World Environment Day”; the participation of the airports of Ibiza, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote and the Aena headquarters in the initiative known as “Earth Hour”; or the activities organized by the airports of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Gran Canaria or Lanzarote on the occasion on the “World Environment Day”. Also, Aena has collaborated in different forums specialising in environmental issues to share its good practices and to raise public awareness.

Lastly, it is worth noting the Aena participation in the COP25 Climate Summit by setting up welcome desks at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport and actively taking part in various forums and debates of general interest.
