Aena ensures the regulatory compliance of all its providers. Our contracting rules incorporate priority elements for us, such as:

  • Assessment and control measures to protect the environment.
  • Respect for human and labour rights.
  • Promoting diversity among providers.
  • Responding to provider and contractor claims.
  • The health and safety data of providers and contractors.
  • Requirements and incentives to foster R&D&I.

Applicable regulations

Aena is subject to different Spanish regulations:

  • Law 9/2017, of the 8th of November on Contracts of the Public Sector by which the 2014/23/UE and 2014/24/UE European Parliament and Council Directives of 26 February 2014 are transposed into the Spanish legal system.
  • Law 31/2007 of the 30th of October on the contracting procedures for the water, energy, transport and postal service sectors.

In the United Kingdom:

  • Public procurement is regulated by the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and the company’s procurement policy, which is subject to approval by the Contracting Directorate.

Likewise, the Aena internal regulations are applied in all areas in which the Company operates, and in the supplier contracting area the applicable regulations are laid down in the following documents:
